Election Hope and Challenge

Post Election

Opinion; A Ray of Hope and Challenge…!

The results of this election should not, must not lower our conviction and resolve to stand firm and defend our Faith and be the guiding light for our Church.

I firmly believe that this is a wake-up call to us by the Lord, that our country is losing/has lost its moral direction, and that both secularism and relativism have become the dominant religion of our country, and that we had better return to prayer and Christian moral principles if we want God’s help once again.

We must remember that God has allowed in the past, and is apparently allowing now, His people to make bad decisions in order that they will learn to return to Him in faith and obedience.

Today’s responsorial psalm says much in how we are to maintain our thoughts and our equalibrium, from Psalm 27:1, 4, 13 –14:

  • The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear?
  • The Lord is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid?
  • One thing I ask of the Lord; this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
  • That I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord
    and contemplate his temple.
I believe that I shall see the bounty of the Lord
in the land of the living.
  • Wait for the Lord with courage,
be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord.

There is however, another passage that appears in the daily morning prayer that is a little more somber and warning. It is from Psalm 95:

  • Today, listen to the voice of the Lord:
  • Do not grow stubborn, as your fathers did in the wilderness,
when at Meriba and Massah they challenged me and provoked me,
  • Although they had seen all of my works.
  • Forty years, I endured that generation,
  • I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray
and they do not know my ways.”
  • So I swore in my anger,
“They shall not enter into my rest.”

Has He also endured our past 40 years of moral deterioration?

One thing more comes to my mind as I contemplate the results of this election cycle and why and how so much was lost, and that is, how we, the Church, has lost/is losing, one and perhaps two generations to secularism and relativism.

It is something that we see happening in our Catholic schools on a regular basis as more and more faculty and staff publicly challenge the basic teachings of the Church and lead their students astray. It is why I maintain that we, the Catholic Defense League, must make clear and challenge that phenomena and trend where and when we find it.

Our Catholic college and university students are being lead astray by liberal teachers with little or no challenge from the Church to correct and maintain its true teachings. I believe that CDL can and should be filling that position in every chance that arises and in every way possible.

Finally, this is not a time to lose faith or resolve. The Lord has provided us with this challenge and the means to defend against it, correct it and resolve it, for we know and must remember that in the end, WE WIN!
