On August 21, 2007

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Defense League (CDL) was held, pursuant to notice, on August 21, 2007 in the offices of the CDL, St. Paul, Minnesota.  Present at the Meeting were the following Board Members: President Pat Phillips, Vice-President Ed Wollerman, Dick Houck, Cletus Tauer, Merlyn Scroggins, Tom Shramer, and Ray Marshall.  The meeting was convened at 4:10 p.m.

Dick Houck moved and Tom Shramer seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.  Carried.

Tom Shramer presented the Treasurer's Report.

After a brief discussion of fund balances, Tom was instructed to invest funds on a staggered basis using his best judgment.  Dick Houck moved.  Merlyn Scroggins seconded. Carried.

Dick Houck moved, Merlyn Scroggins seconded a motion to accept the Financial Report.  Carried.

Discussion was held regarding the filing of the IRS Form 990 for charitable organizations.  Tom Shramer moved and Merlyn Scroggins seconded a motion approving the Charitable Organization Annual Report and instructing Tom to send it and all attachments to the Minnesota Attorney General as required by law.

A lengthy discussion was held regarding the subjects to be dealt with in the September Defender. 

It was agreed that the CDL should purchase an ad in the Catholic Spirit acknowledging Mike McGovern, former Board Members, and Joe Kueppers, current Board Member for their nomination as Leading With Faith candidates as prominent Catholic business leaders. 

The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
